About

Annandale Community Transport Services (ACTS) is your local, friendly, community-focused transport provider. Since 1999, we’ve been here to make getting around Annandale & Eskdale easier, safer, and more accessible for everyone.

What began as the Annandale Transport Initiative has grown into a trusted registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee, dedicated to supporting voluntary groups, community organisations, and individuals who need accessible and reliable transport they can count on.

Community Transport Provider

ACTS was born from a simple truth:

Not everyone can access transport when they need it — especially in rural areas.

Voluntary and community groups struggled with high costs, limited availability, and vehicles that didn’t meet the needs of older people or disabled passengers. ACTS stepped in to change that, ensuring everyone in Annandale & Eskdale has a way to get where they need to go.

Our Story

Community transport in the area has deep roots. After the Lockerbie Air Disaster in 1988, Round Tables from across the world helped fund the very first community buses — planting the seed for what ACTS would one day become.

Since then, we’ve grown with the support of fantastic partners, securing over £1 million in funding from organisations including Dumfries & Galloway Council, The National Lottery Community Fund, local Community Councils, ANCBC (funded by ScottishPower Renewables), The Robertson Trust, and the Minnygap Community Fund.In 2017, we became Annandale Community Transport Services to emphasise what matters most to us: community.

How We Operate

We’re proud to run a practical, flexible transport network designed around our community’s needs:

  • 5 minibuses (including 3 wheelchair-accessible vehicles), 4 with 16 seats and 1 with 15 seats
  • 5 Wheelchair accessible community cars for individual passenger use
  • Vehicles hosted at friendly local businesses in Moffat, Lockerbie, Annan, Eskdalemuir and Langholm
  • A welcoming office in Lockerbie that coordinates group bookings, hires, publicity, and training
  • A small, dedicated staff team — plus amazing volunteers — who keep everything running smoothly

Our vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, with regular safety checks, lift servicing, and professional oversight. We operate under a permit system and provide transport only for registered members and qualifying grou
