About US
History
ACTS was established in 1999, under the name Annandale Transport Initiative (ATI), to assist voluntary and community groups in Annandale with their transport provision.
It was formed because voluntary and community groups found it difficult and expensive to provide specific transport for their individual needs. Where transport was available, it could not always cater for the needs
ATI purchased two fully accessible minibuses after securing funding from the Scottish Office, Lockerbie Round Table and from Dumfries & Galloway Council.
ATI was officially launched on 27th August 1999. Since then we have built up our fleet of vehicles to four 16 seat minibuses and four accessible community cars.
We have achieved our success with funding from various sources including the Scottish Government and Dumfries & Galloway Council.
ACTS is a recognised charity (SC029660) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (SC200686).

How ACTS is Run
We have a Board of up to 14 volunteer Directors (12 of which are nominated by registered groups) with areas of responsibility divided between them such as strategy, finance and marketing. They serve for 3 years before requiring re-election. We employ three members of staff to promote the Initiative, take bookings for hires and trips, provide administrative support for the trainers, service the management committee, register groups and arrange maintenance of the vehicles. A fourth member of staff carries out regular cleaning and checking of the vehicle fleet. All other functions are carried out by volunteers.
