tRAINING


Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) Training

  • A nationally recognised training programme.
  • Standard theory training, including a short multiple choice theory test, to increase drivers' passenger awareness and safety.
  • Driving assessment which lasts about an hour (depending on experience); this focuses on the driver's ability to take account of the needs and comfort of the passengers while driving.
  • Accessible training course which covers the needs of disabled passengers, not only those passengers travelling in a wheelchair but all those who might need extra support. It is essential for anyone using the hoist.
  • Costs £60 per person for standard training.
  • There is no extra charge for accessible training
  • Certificate lasts for 4 years after which time refresher training is required.
Standard training courses are usually run each month. Potential drivers should contact the office to be informed of forthcoming training dates.


Minibus Emergency Evacuation Procedures (MEEP) Training


This highly practical, participative training course demonstrates the principles of quick and efficient evacuation of a minibus under emergency conditions with passengers of limited mobility.
