Vehicle Hire

Who can hire ACTS minibuses? 

  • Voluntary groups and community organisations serving the Annandale area, which should be constituted. In other words you should have your own identifiable organisation.
  • User groups must abide by the Terms and Conditions of Hire - see below
  • Minibuses can only be hired for the stated purpose of the community group  - if in doubt check with the office.
  • All minibus drivers must complete MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) 
  • Drivers must be over 25, under 70 with 2 years full driving experience with a full, current licence. Once a driver is over 70 they must complete a medical in order to continue driving the minibus. Any penalty points will be referred to the insurer for permission to drive.
Who can hire the Community Cars?
We provide door-to-door transport for residents in the Annandale area.  The service is suitable for people who are fully mobile, for those with a disability and/or who need to travel in a wheelchair.  If the passenger requires assistance during the journey they would have to provide their own carer to accompany them.  
  • Drivers must be over 25, under 70 with 2 years full driving experience Any penalty points will be referred to the insurer for permission to drive.
  • Community groups - but priority is given to individuals in need

What Can The Community Cars Be Used For?

  • Visits to family and friends
  • Outings and sightseeing trips
  • Transport to meetings
  • Medical appointment



Almost anything! Hires are available subject to vehicle and driver availability

Who Can Drive?
 
All drivers must be registered with ACTS. Groups and individuals can nominate as many drivers as they wish provided they fulfill the required conditions stated below.
 
Minibus Drivers
 
All drivers must complete MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme)training - see Training for further details.
 
Drivers must: -
  • Be aged between 25 and 69. At 70 they must complete a medical to be able to continue driving a minibus.
  • Have D1 on their licence (automatic if you passed your test before 1/1/1997) or they will be restricted to driving only the 12 seater and 14 seater minibuses in a voluntary capacity.
  • Any penalty points will be referred to the insurer for permission to drive.
  • Notify the office about any changes to the driving licence or any motoring incidents to confirm insurance cover.

Community Car Drivers
Drivers must: -
  • Be aged between 25 and 73.
  • Any penalty points will be referred to the insurer for permission to drive.
  • Notify the office about any changes to the driving licence or any motoring incidents to confirm insurance cover.
  • Undertake training, a familiarisation of the vehicle and a short test drive. This will include the correct way to restrain a wheelchair and to safely secure the passenger(s).
