ATI was established in 1999 to assist voluntary and community groups. Margaret was involved at the outset when discussions took place between the Moffat Transport group, CVS, the Round table and the Council. At that time Margaret felt that Community transport was important as many people did not have a car and found it difficult to travel around a rural area like Annandale.
Since then Margaret has been a valued member on the Board of Directors and has had an excellent attendance record over the last 14 years. Her opinion has always been valued as she has been happy to speak her mind and this has been particularly valuable when discussing difficult issues and selecting staff to work for ATI.
In the early days when the first two buses were purchased Margaret travelled down to Lancashire and Derbyshire to help decide the most suitable accessible vehicles. Margaret was the ‘seat expert' always being consulted on the comfort and fabric of the bus seats which she correctly believed was very important to ATI's many loyal customers.
Margaret has always personally enjoyed travelling by bus, not only those of ATI, meeting fellow travellers and having a great view of all parts of Scotland from the elevated seats of a bus. Many folk tell Margaret unofficially what they think of the buses and the trips and Margaret believes that many people rely on ATI to get out of the house and travel around Annandale and Scotland often with friends.
At last years AGM Margaret's fellow directors decided that they should recognise her long commitment to ATI and her continued pride and enthusiasm as ATI develops and flourishes.
Margaret was presented with a commemorative photograph to mark her new position as Honorary Director.
